Healthy Homes Assessments

Through one of our core programs, we’ve been improving access to healthy homes in Cleveland for decades. Over the years, we’ve improved the living conditions for families in thousands of homes by meeting them where they are and when they’re available.

What We Believe

We believe everyone has the right to a healthy home as defined by the criteria that we helped set with the Department of Housing and Urban Development years ago. Income, neighborhood, and background shouldn’t be factors that impact anyone’s access to a place they can call home and start a family. Health starts in the home, and the most important thing we can do is invest in home repairs, education, and policy changes to stop issues before they start.

What we do about it

The Healthy Homes program was built on a simple truth: every child deserves to grow up in a safe and healthy home. In Cleveland, that’s not always guaranteed—so we step in with safety consultations, education, and hands-on support to help families create the conditions they deserve.

We work closely with hospitals and community partners to break down the barriers that stand between families and healthier housing. From full-home assessments to personalized education, we help residents understand not just what’s wrong—but why. And we don’t stop there. We roll up our sleeves to make minor repairs ourselves and walk alongside families as they navigate bigger fixes, connecting them with trusted contractors.

No two homes are the same. Every family’s story matters. We treat each home with care and dignity, because we know that a healthy home isn’t just a building—it’s the foundation for a thriving life. Our vision is simple: a Cleveland where no one has to worry that their home is making them sick.
